Dr. Bijan Anvar is the chairman of Flushing Hospital Medical Centers Department of Dental Medicine. He is also past president of the Queens County Dental Society and past chair of NYSDA’s council on dental practice. He is an active member of NYSDA’s IT Committee as well as an active and contributing member of the 405(d) Task Group (HSS) and the Health Sector Coordinating Council (HSCC) Privacy & Security Task Group.

Hackers and scammers are constantly trying to fool you. This presentation will share a handful of simple steps you can take to improve your cybersecurity and HIPAA issues.

Objectives:

• Introduce attendees to some of the more recent HIPAA issues

• Introduce ideas for creating some better practice protocols to help stay compliant and safeguard our patients information

• Introduce newer concepts of encryption

• Introduce newer concepts of password and router protection
