Gigi Meinecke, RN, DMD
Dr. Gigi Meinecke has been active in the field of facial injectables since 2004. In 2013 she established FACES Education, providing cosmetic and therapeutic injectable training to medical and dental professionals with a core focus on comprehensive facial anatomy. Her programs regularly integrate cadaver study with live patient injections. In addition to teaching nationally, Dr. Meinecke is faculty, course director and facial anatomy pro-sector for the Facial Injectables Pre-doctoral program at the Boston University School of Dental Medicine. She also provides litigation support as an expert witness in the injectable domain. Her publications include “Applications for Facial Injectables in Dentistry,” “Lower Face Influence on Total Facial Esthetics,” and “When and How to Say No to Facial Injectable Patients.” She is author of the book, “Start and Grow Your Cosmetic Injectable Practice.” Dr. Meinecke is active in organized dentistry and is a current member of the Academy of General Dentistry’s Dental Practice Council. She served 2 consecutive terms on the AGD’s Legislative and Governmental Affairs Council and is a past Chair of the ADA Council on Communications. Dr. Meinecke is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists and in the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Meinecke maintains a private practice limited to facial injectables in Potomac, Maryland.

Target Audience:

Clinicians with minimal-to-no experience with facial injectables who are interested in adding neuromodulation treatments to their practice

*PER NEW YORK STATE DENTAL BOARD – ONLY NY LICENSED PRACTITIONERS MAY INJECT PATIENTS AT CONTINUING EDUCATION EVENTS

This 7-hour workshop includes a didactic session followed by a one-on-one instructor guided hands-on experience treating patients with Botox for indications in the oral and maxillofacial area consistent with Section 6601 of the New York State Education Law. Areas covered include: masseter, temporalis, mentalis, orbicularis oris, depressor angulioris and levator labii (gummy smile).

Curriculum includes: an overview of facial anatomy, toxin biochemistry and related neurophysiology, patient selection, dosage ranges per area, review of reconstitution, review of complications, and management of patient expectations. To conform with Section 6601 of the New York State Education Law, the hands-on training will focus exclusively on botulinum toxin injections for oral and maxillofacial indications.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the program, participants will be better able to:

• Interpret principles of facial anatomy and assess the need for neuromodulator treatment
• Perform comprehensive and individualized patient assessment
• Interpret areas of muscle activity as they contribute to esthetic appearance
• Demonstrate injection techniques
• Recognize the normal and atypical anatomical positions of facial structures, to assure patient safety and avoid/minimize treatment complications

Special Instructions:

Each injector may bring one patient to treat in the afternoon for the hands-on exercises. Chairside and front desk are strongly encouraged to attend the afternoon session.
