Maria Maranga, DDS
Dr Maria Maranga received her DDS degree and her endodontic certificate from NYU. She has served as an endodontic consultant to the V.A. , is an attending at 3 GPR programs and post graduate endodontics at both Stony Brook and NYU Langone at different times. She is a past President of the Suffolk County Dental Society, Immediate Past President of the NYS Association of Endodontists, Past ADA Vice President. She was a board Trustee for the AAE and the AAE Foundation, Past Chair on the ADA’s Council on Membership and graduate of the ADA’s Diversity Institute. _She is the current Chairperson of the NYS Dental Foundation, a current board member of both EDPAC and ADPAC and sits on the NYSDA Council of Hospital Dentistry. She was twice honored by being Long Islands Top 50 Business Women, received the Mentorship Award for the Lucy Hobbs Project and Dental Products Magazine, Dentistry’s Top 25 Women. She was also the Academic Affairs Director for the AAWD. Most notably, Dr Maranga is the co-founder of the double award winning “Scrubs and Stilettos”, a yearly women’s C.E. and networking event.
Course Description:
A narrow overview of the ins and outs of identifying treatment and follow up of iatrogenic Endodontic mishaps. Concentration will be on the furcation perforation and its many drawbacks to Endodontic success. After attending this presentation, the attendee will learn how to deal with, “there’s heme in the furcation, now what”.
Course Objectives:
• Identifying anatomical differences in the pre-operative X-ray
• Controlling the operator’s panic, before, during and after the incident
• Learning the technique sensitive placement of restorative materials in both the furcation and roots.
• Also to be discussed will be the timing, technique and follow-up of these less than adequate endodontic cases.
