Jim O’Brien is a Licensed Architect &Certified Interior Designer. He holds a Ph.D. in the History, Theory & Criticism of Art & Architecture. Jim focuses his design firm on the needs of dentists with his Dental Office Design Studio, which delivers dental office environments through the design-bid-build process specifically crafted for each doctor and specialist.

Dental Office Design and Construction

This presentation is designed to educate dentists about the overall process of selecting a location and having a dental office designed and constructed to meet their goals, power their business, and meet the needs of their practice for years to come.

Objectives:

Identify the phases & tasks within the dental office design & construction process. Identify the roles of the dentist and the other service providers involved in the process. Identify key priorities for project budgets; design; interior environments; equipment needs and construction agreements. Identify potential issues and problems that may come up in the process, and find the tools needed to solve them along the way.

Outcome:

Gain knowledge and detailed information on the process of dental office design & construction. Be able to define the roles & goals of the several service providers involved, as well as the dentist’s “to-do’s” in the process. Become familiar with key standards & practices for: evaluating project budgets; good design criteria; effective interior environment features; current & future equipment needs planning, and fair &balanced construction agreements. Be able to address potential issues &problems that may come up in the process, and be aware of the tools available to dentists to solve them along the way.
